WHISTLE BEAR GOLF CLUB IS EASILY BECOMING ONE OF MY FAVOURITE VENUES IN ONTARIO

That’s why it is so easy to see why Natalie and Dylan fell head over heels in love with their wedding venue. I can’t wait to share their Whistle Bear Golf Club wedding today so that you can be just as speechless when looking through the photos of their gorgeous chapel, and stunning white-on-white reception space! I really can’t imagine a more beautiful place to start your new lives together as husband and wife!

FROM THE BRIDE, NATALIE…

Dylan and I originally met as teenagers through a mutual friend. Years later in 2009, we reconnected through his best man, who brought him to his cottage for a long weekend. We hit it off and have been inseparable for the past 8 years, so our wedding was very anticipated, to say the least!

Dylan plays professional lacrosse and is away every weekend from January to May, so I took full advantage of his one scheduled weekend off and booked a full spa day a few hours North of the city. Dylan, being the opportunist he is, took advantage of this romantic weekend that I had planned and brought it to the next level by proposing in our hotel room. It was private, romantic, and completely us. It was also April Fool’s Day – so that made for some interesting reactions when we called friends and family to tell them the exciting news!

LOOKING BACK ON OUR WEDDING DAY, MY FAVOURITE PARTS WERE SOME OF THE SMALLEST MOMENTS THAT WE MADE TIME FOR THROUGHOUT THE DAY!

One of the most surprising standouts was getting ready with my girlfriends and family in the stunning Orchard Suite at Langdon Hall before heading to Whistle Bear Golf Club. I had always heard from friends who were married before us how anxious and full of nerves the morning was for them, but mine was definitely the opposite! We sipped mimosas, ate freshly baked pastries, had a dance party, and got ourselves all glammed up with the help of Taylor Switzer Makeup and Bridal Hair Collective. It really couldn’t have been a more perfect start to our day, and choosing Langdon Hall as our prep location was by far the best decision I could have made for our morning!

I had a minor wardrobe malfunction while getting ready that was quickly solved with the help of my mother-in-law and the sewing kit in a Pinch Provisions Mini Emergency Kit that my maid of honour gifted me! You think you won’t use them but trust me – you will. The atmosphere when getting ready will set the tone for the day and is one detail not to overlook! It definitely kept me calm while we were scrambling and I’m so thankful that I took the time to plan out our morning to be so stress-free. Make a playlist, have a ton of delicious snacks, grab some bubbly, and have fun!

We opted not to have a first look (which I feel like is less and less common these days!) and not seeing each other beforehand really made walking down the aisle such a standout moment for me. There were nearly 200 people in the garden chapel at our Whistle Bear Golf Club wedding ceremony, but all I could see was him.

All of the laughs during our post-ceremony photo session with Kayla were a highlight for my entire wedding party. Our friends have no problem being in front of a camera and we spent the whole time joking around with our photographer and having fun exploring on golf carts! It was a great way to kick off the reception portion of our day!

The evening’s speeches also blew me away. We laughed, teared up, and laughed some more. Being together for eight years – our MCs, best man, maid of honour, and both sets of parents had a ton of material to work with. A big surprise for all was my groom’s speech. Typically a man of few words, Dylan had the whole crowd roaring with laughter as he recited the list of “parenting strategies” he picked up from his mom and dad. He saved the best for last and melted my heart with his final words for me. We also ended the night off by sharing our cake cutting with our nieces which will always be one of my most cherished moments. They totally stole the show at our wedding in the best way!

Everyone who knows me knows my love of neutral palettes – and our wedding was no exception. We stuck to whites, creams, and grey, with a few key metallic details. I was also super keen on having only whites, creams and cascading greenery for flower arrangements, and Living Fresh executed my vision flawlessly.

Our boxed macaron favours were also very much a reflection of my taste (buds). I don’t know if there is any better pairing than macarons and bubbly! Dylan and I heard “this is so you” from guests multiple times throughout the evening. It was the highest compliment that could be paid as that’s exactly what we were going for – something that felt like us.

If I could leave future brides with any advice when planning, I’d definitely say to stick to gut feelings when you make decisions. This day is about you and your partner, so if you can help it – do what you feel is best!
