Finding the right words to talk about the Burroughes Building wedding I’m sharing with you all today feels totally impossible to me.

I feel like the term “ideal client” gets tossed around a lot as a business owner. From the very beginning, we’re told by every source imaginable to nail down who that person is; for everything that we put out into the world to appeal to that person. Showing photos at their dream venue, developing your style, and creating captions that speak to their soul. Maddy and Paul are without a doubt those dream clients for me, and I think these photographs from their Burroughes Building wedding will completely explain why!

From the very beginning, I immediately started to fall in love with Maddy and Paul’s vision for their Toronto loft wedding.

Both Paul and Maddy have a warmth about them that makes them instant friends to anyone around them! I met them for the first time over coffee at one of their favourite local spots, Boxcar Social, and left feeling like when you’re in kindergarten and just met someone who is going to be in your life forever. We bonded over a shared love of dogs, slipped in dozens of quotes from “The Office,” and completely lost track of time! I knew from that one meeting that this day was going to be special, but that excitement kept building more and more over the coming months!

One thing that I love about my relationship with my couples is that I really encourage them to keep in contact throughout their whole planning process. These two made a point to let me in on the secrets of all of the fun decisions they had made. With little messages about their floral design plan, to a mailed invitation (that they made themselves!) it was so easy to build a mental picture of what was in store come September!

Beyond all of the beautiful details that had me excited, what I truly loved about this Toronto wedding was how many moments they made a point to take time for.

By far my favourite moment of their wedding day was at the end of their ceremony after just being announced as husband and wife. They walked down their aisle while smiling ear-to-ear with Wake Up by Arcade Fire in the background. Everyone in the room was so excited to celebrate them that they didn’t seem to notice that they had walked right up the stairwell and onto the rooftop of their venue about 30 seconds before anyone followed.

I’ll never forget opening the door with their parents just behind me only to see them both in the middle of the warmest hug, sharing what I can only imagine is a singular minute they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. Even as everyone filtered in, it’s like they couldn’t see any of us. All that mattered was that hug, their person, and that fresh excitement of a new ring they’ll wear forever.
