Blogging has always been a bit terrifying to me. Maybe it stems from my over-sharing teen years spent on Tumblr posting webcam selfies and ranting about how hard high school life was, but the concept of putting everything I have out there into the world where even years later it can be found and used as (very effective) blackmail puts me into an immediate cold sweat.

But what is life without a little bit of fear? —

I started this blog because I felt it was necessary to keep my clients updated on what I was doing. It was a place for me to publish behind the scenes photos from shoots and almost every wedding I shot in order to stay on the top of everyone’s mind and boost my SEO. I’ve only now come to the realization that running a blog that you’re incredibly uninspired by is not only draining on yourself, but also draining on it’s readers.

After really sitting back and thinking about my business and what I wanted to change, I started to determine who it was that I really wanted to work with and realized that it was people exactly like myself. Young, adventurous women with incredible ambitions and dedication to their goals. People who see a dollar amount and equate it to how many plane tickets they can buy. Future brides who are in love with the idea of having small, intimate, and effortless wedding days in places that are only out-shined by the relationship they’re celebrating. I want to work with people who make my job exciting and inspire me to be a better person.

This is why I’m changing directions —

If my ideal client has so much in common with myself, why not make a blog that I would actually read? Instead of posting stale, cookie-cutter, typical blog articles, I’m embracing the fear. I want people to leave this blog feeling like they gained something. Whether it is advice about planning an elopement, travel tips, or a shoot that I feel genuinely inspired about, I want my blog to reflect an authentic version of myself without that looming dread of what people will think, and completely unapologetically. Let’s see how this goes.
