It feels extra special to be able to share my first Muskoka engagement session as a local today!
If you follow along with me on social media, you’re likely up to speed on our move to Muskoka! Back in January, my husband was approached with an unexpected job opportunity in cottage country. As a result, we made the decision to relocate to Huntsville full-time! Being able to refocus on private estate weddings has been such an exciting part of this year! For example, this Lake of Bays engagement session with Stephanie and Brad definitely fulfilled all of that excitement!
If you’re looking for a location to photograph a session on Lake of Bays, this vacation rental is perfect!
Brad’s sister recently built a stunning cottage for their family in Dwight, Ontario that doubles as a rental. Their dock was a dream location for a Lake of Bays engagement session! Not only does it have breathtaking views, but the South-facing shoreline is ideal for sunsets.
When planning your engagement session, try to look for ways to personalize it!
I’ve been absolutely loving incorporating more movement into my work this season. For instance, adding in a canoe and a dockside dance session! These were such fun elements that really added life and personality to their images. Beyond that, they also reflected Stephanie and Brad as a couple.
If you are able to incorporate elements that are truly unique to you in your session, do it! Bringing in activities like boating, building a fire, cooking, or even something like longboarding will ultimately make your photos more personal and loved long-term. Location will also be a huge factor for your session, so consider booking a weekend trip and shooting along the way or capturing a sentimental place you both love. Between Steph’s dance background and so many family memories up North, this session was truly about them in the best ways!
