Relocating to Fergus this past year has had its perks, but living only four minutes away from Elora is definitely my favourite part about our new home —
When Stephen and I were looking for houses outside of Toronto, it never crossed my mind that being an Elora wedding photographer would end up making me this giddy and full of community pride. It’s crazy how in love you can fall with a few streets, conservation areas, and historical homes, but immediately after moving here we couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. That’s why when couples like my sweet friends Natasha and Mark come to me with the idea of roaming the streets of Elora for their engagement session, I could not be more excited to oblige!
Natasha and Mark recently moved to Guelph and really wanted to incorporate some of the conservation areas and hiking trails that drew them to the area into their engagement session. We started their portraits along the Grand River at the end of one of my favourite little hidden gem hiking trails between our two towns! It is actually the spot where Stephen and I started to take our dog Gus for swims at the end of the summer, and it was such a cool shift to see it through a camera instead of through my dog mom sunglasses.
After spending some time along the water, we set off for a walk around town, stopping next to the site of the soon to be restored Elora Mill, which construction just broke ground on a few short days ago! I can’t wait for it to reopen in Winter of 2018, and am equally excited for I’m sure, a ton of Elora Mill weddings shortly afterward! It’s so easy to fall head over heels for the history that the area has to offer, and I love that they plan on keeping the charm of the old inn with their revitalization plan!
