This year I gave myself one rule, and then immediately broke it. This little Niagara-on-the-Lake engagement session was worth it.
Since I have a milestone birthday this year — 25! — I made it a goal of mine to take the day off and celebrate it in a way that I’d love looking back on years from now. Since my birthday pretty regularly falls on Thanksgiving weekend in Canada it is a really common thing for me to spend it by shooting a wedding, and spending the day doing something new and exciting was definitely a goal for this year. Months after making this little goal, though, I ended up receiving an email from one of the sweetest and most excited brides talking all about her wedding at the Niagara Botanical Gardens, and immediately knew that shooting her wedding was an absolute must regardless of what date it fell on.
Sara and Richard currently live in DC and are having a destination wedding in Niagara, which meant that up until just three weeks ago we were chatting and planning entirely though email. Meeting them in person for their Niagara-on-the-Lake engagement session at Butler’s Barracks was just like catching up with old friends! We spent the whole time walking through the park that we had almost entirely to ourselves, laughing, and taking photos along the way. Showing affection was just so effortless for the two of them and it was so clear to see how in love they are just by seeing the way they look at each other with so much joy and admiration.
I am so excited to shoot their Niagara Botanical Gardens wedding in just one month, and am even more excited that every time I think back to the day I turn 25, I’ll get to think back to my time spent with these two!
