Guelph weddings, I love you, always —
Stephen and I making the move from Toronto to our new little town of Fergus just North of Guelph has been a whirlwind. It has officially been nine months since we packed up all of our belongings, the pup, and my business to move to a town where we knew absolutely nobody, and had only driven through a handful of times. It was a bit of a crazy decision now that I look back on it, but Guelph and Fergus have become our favourite place on this earth and I’m so thankful for the people who have made this transition so amazingly smooth for us, including so many of my Guelph wedding clients like Stef and Jeff!
Stef first contacted me only a few months into our move about her wedding this April that is taking place down the street from my house at Melville United Church followed by a reception at one of my favourite venues, the Alton Mill, and for the first time since I started my wedding photography business four years ago, I finally felt the crazy, surreal, giddy, feelings that can only come along with working in your own hometown. We met for the first time at their house where I was greeted by their adorable Australian Shepherd, Harvey, chatted about all of our favourite local spots, and planned out their Guelph Arboretum engagement session at sunrise despite my clear lack of enthusiasm for waking up early.
My favourite part of their session wasn’t even the session itself, but was actually that they invited me to be a part of their engagement party BBQ afterwards, complete with a pool water balloon fight. These two unknowingly made me feel so at home in a new location, and I’m so thankful that a simple Google search brought them into my life! I’m so excited to be sharing their Guelph Arboretum engagement session and am even more excited for them to finally be husband and wife this April!
