Goodbye, April!
This month was big. Like, “sit down, we need to talk” level of big. With so many new and exciting things happening around here lately, I decided to give you all a little recap of what went on both in and behind the scenes this April, as well as a little preview of what is to come this May!
Hello, Wedding Season!
It is here, and boy is it a busy one. I’ve officially kicked off my 2016 wedding season in full force with two weddings in the San Francisco Bay area! It was such a complete fluke that two of my favourite brides of all time happened to inquire for back to back weekends at venues that were only thirty minutes apart from each other on the other side of the continent but I am so thankful that they both found me! You can see a preview of Rebecca and Jeff’s Outdoor Art Club wedding in Mill Valley here, and a preview of Sarah and Brad’s Peacock Gap Golf Club wedding in San Rafael here!
Goodbye, San Francisco!
Because of my last two weddings being abroad in California, I decided to make a trip out for ten full days instead of two smaller weekends and enlisted my good friend Kelsee from Salem, Oregon to join me as a second shooter. We spent an insane amount of time shooting in the San Francisco area not only for just the weddings but also for two couples sessions at the Marin Headlands and on a mountain overlooking Muir Woods, and somehow still had time to do a full tour of everything Full House related, visit a coffee shop that was entirely dedicated to good toast, and take photographs in a greenhouse hidden in the backyard of a clothing store! I’ll be sharing a little behind the scenes blog post of our trip later on, so stay tuned to the blog for that!
Hello, “Wedding Vendor Wednesday!”
This past month, I noticed that so many brides were asking for recommendations from me for everyone from florists to makeup artists, and thought that the best way to really let some of my favourite business owners shine (other than a little link to their website in a poorly written email) was a full series of blog interviews! I sat down with bridal boutique Sash and Bustle last month to talk about everything from Andrea’s dog Harvey, to their favourite dress trends for 2017! This month I’ll be sharing one of my absolute favourite hair and makeup artists and I can’t wait to let you know who! Hint for those of you who follow her on Instagram: she just did my hair last week and posted a cute little photo of the new and improved back of my head!
Goodbye, Weathered Deck!
While I was in San Francisco, Stephen’s dad was working hard to replace the worn out deck in our backyard so that we were finally able to let Gus outside without the fear that he’d find a raccoon family under it or hop the very small gate that was attached to it in order to meet one of the cute girl dogs down the street. I returned to a renovated masterpiece in the yard and we can’t wait to start barbecue season back there! I’ll be better at actually taking house renovation photos next month… I hope.
Hello, May!
This month is going to be full of new work to hit the blog as well as some website changes! I’ll be shooting a new collaboration with some of my favourite vendors next week, followed by weddings every single weekend this month! Beyond the busy wedding season vibes, I also can’t wait to spend this month cooking recipes from a cookbook that one of my best friends shot alongside her boyfriend, getting Gus back in to agility classes so that he can wow all the lady dogs with his jump skills, and spoiling Mama Yestal on Mother’s Day!
